3 December 2019 Sophie is improving everyday and is back to being her cheeky little self. She just needs to gain some strength and weight. Yesterday we attended the radiotherapy department at the Royal Adelaide Hospital to discuss radiotherapy treatment for Sophie's tumour bed. Sophie will need 12 sessions of radiation to her chest starting sometime around the middle of this month. This will require us to be at the RAH at 8am fasting for an aenesthetic 12 times over the Christmas period. Some children require around 30 doses of radiation so we're lucky that she needs a minimal amount. Sophie goes into the RAH this Friday morning for a CT scan to plan the exact spot to be radiated. I'm not looking forward to the early mornings but we'll make the best of it like we do with everything else. At least it's not winter.
8 December 2019 Yesterday we had an amazing time at Santas Wonderland thanks to Camp Quality. We've spent so much time going to events separately for the past 8 months, that it was lovely to all be out and about together. The excitement and smiles on the girls faces warmed my heart.
8 December 2019 Sophie's CT scan on Friday was much quicker and easier than i expected. The womens and children's hospital sent over a paediatric anaethetist and nurse to work with the RAH radiotherapy staff to care for Sophie. They were all amazing and we were out of there in just over an hour. Sophie starts daily radiotherapy on the 16th and will have it right through til around new year (weekends and Christmas day excluded). We finished the morning with a play at Glover playground and it was lovely to see Sophie just playing and being a 'normal' kid. Shes loving life outside of the hospital and home now that we don't have to be quite as protective of her.
